Family Tradition
My family has a tradition of wearing new clothes on every celebration we have. We always make different kinds of food to serve to god. All our celebrations are based on every god that we worship.
We celebrate each holiday to represent one god each time. This happens every year. The routine is always the same. Wake up, take a shower, wear brand new clothes. Pray to god for everything he has given us. In the evening, we go to a temple. This is practiced during every holiday. Some holidays are celebrated for one day, two days or even ten days. It is a time we give thanks for our lives and the happiness god provided us.

About Me
I am Jayasri. I love to read and to listen to music. I made some really great friends in middle school. When I first found out that Mrs.Patalano was not going to be with us for two months, I was really depressed. She was a great teacher who enjoyed teaching and had fun. At first, I admit I was a little tensed on how our substitute was going to be. I really was excited when I heard some really nice things about the substitute we were going to have. I hoped she would like me and everyone else. Turns out she is a great teacher. She is fun to be with and I could tell that she loved teaching which is great for us.

Holiday Traditions
In our religion we celebrate our New Year in April. On this day, it is our custom to wake up early and to wear new traditional clothes. It is also a tradition to prepare a special food item including all the tastes of sweet, sour, bitter, salty to represent our how our future year would be filled with happiness, bitterness, sadness and some memorable events. This festival is known as Ugadi and is celebrated by all South Indians. It is a special day to remember.

My Family
Having friends or toys to play with, winning prizes, gaining gifts from others, are not the most important details of my life. If anything, it would be my family. My parents are very kind, helpful and organized. I love them very much for their importance and the attention they give to me and my sisters. My mother never made mistakes in any plans. Not for vacations. Not for trips, journeys. Not for anything, until when we were at airport waiting for the flight to arrive in an airport in India. “Mom we’re here!” I screamed.
“Calm down, now help me with these bags,” my mother answered, rather softly, in a voice of tiredness.
The bags were very heavy. Even with that heaviness in my hand, I was able to run with them. My face only showed the feeling of excitement in me, unlike my mom, who was very tired of the flight. She hated flights. It made her feel sick.
“Mom, come on! I see dad,” I said. With that, excitement and happiness entered her body. I could read her face. It clearly told that she wanted to know where he was. That made me smile. She started to look around her. She found him. He stood straight ahead, waiting for us in the freezing cold.I was already there with my dad yelling at the top of my voice, after my mom and my sisters. The way I yelled got everyone’s attention. I did not care, though. After, what seemed like an hour, my sisters and my mother arrived joining my dad and me. I could see that it was cold outside. I could see the fog covering all the cars’ windows, from the airport’s window. We were in our car, all back together, enjoying the drive home. During the two days, I could remember when we almost missed our flight. It all started when we were waiting at the terminal gate two. I was holding the boarding passes until I looked at them and realized that we were to board at the gate 22. We only had ten minutes until our flight arrived. It was a long way through the whole airport. However, the good thing was that we saw the whole airport. Luckily, we did manage to get on the flight. After the long run in the airport, we were all sleeping during the whole flight. Therefore, we arrived in America after the long days. We found our dad straight ahead, outside, shivering. He was waiting anxiously. The moment we all saw each other, our faces glowed from the tiredness to happiness. During the drive home, my sisters told my dad about the mistake we did in the airport. I was surprised that he did not seem surprised, he was just happy that we were with him. Although I did not listen to the whole story, I saw my dad laughing. I was looking outside the window, surprised at how fast a whole year had gone by, without him. A new year laid in front of me for a new start. Although I cannot see or tell future, I had a feeling for it to be special.

Patriotism
All of us have unique beliefs and customs. Living in a country with all these different people makes us a part of the same nation of one’s country. Staying united and sharing our country together makes us one. What more can you have than being in a helpful country? This is the kind of country that makes us proud.
Standing up for what we believe in, while following our laws is the perfect way to show respect towards one country. We are the only change, everyone seeks. To make the change, we need to be caring and supportive towards our country and the world. It also means to be patriotic. Our country is the country, which our ancestors lived in. It was created for us to be united. Our founding fathers were the creators for this beautiful land that we step on today. So, our countries should always be protected .It is what our ancestors would’ve wanted.
A proud person of his/her country would be a patriot. A patriot is always loving and caring towards his country. A patriot would always defend his country and its government in any situation. He doesn’t have to be a person from the military, the police or the government. Even you and I could be a patriot. We just have to be ourselves to protect our country. Volunteering in a charity or a community event is all we have to do. We might not save hundreds of people from cancer or any other diseases but we can still save one person!
We all are united. We sometimes win and lose, but we always do it together as a nation. Our great ancestors are the reason we have freedom now. They fought for what they believed in. We are to do the same. We are to change our countries into being even more united, where everyone would respect each other’s opinions and ideas. We are very proud for what we have now, but we still have many other great chances to make it better. Everyone should be proud of their countries for its freedom, loyalty, bravery and its greatness. I know that I am. Are you proud of your country?

Halloween
I love Halloween. It is a time when the beautiful season,Autumn enters.Looking outside the window watching the leaves fall, brings some people joy, like me.The customs of Halloween have been practiced every year to make those holidays special. Having fun with my sisters,Trick or Treating is the custom that I follow. This year,I am not getting dressed up because it would be waste of money .This costume would only be worn on the Halloween night but not any other time.If it is only for a day it would be best not dressing up. That's at least what I think.
